Beaufort is my home and Real Estate is my business. I love the real estate business: However, the minutia of the business forces me to sit at my desk and grind through it... As I sit at my desk I am fortunate to be able to look out my window across the passion flowers and see my great neighbors who own the Charles Street Gallery, Sonny and Georgia Phillips.
Sonny is outside working on a picture frame. Georgia is coming out with sliced cold cuts and a delicious lunch. Their 2 grand children Cade and Kobe are pretending to be swashbuckling pirates fighting an imaginary battle with their wooden swords. I have enjoyed watching these kids grow up and see the love their Grandparents have given them.
Sonny and Georgia Phillips opened the Charles St. Gallery in 1998, in a two-story house in the historic district of Beaufort, South Carolina. In this restored 1300 square foot space, they provide a detailed yet cleanly minimalist setting for the artists of Beaufort to reveal their work. They showcase various artists from the Beaufort area and provide matting and framing of art work and photographs.
Battle Dress: A Woman's View, is an upcoming exhibit at the gallery. This exhibit is designed and dedicated to enlightening the public community to the complex views of women who serve in the United States Military.
This event is part of the 2010 Beaufort Shrimp Festival and Lt. Dan Weekend, October 1-4, 2010 which supports injured troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Sonny and Georgia are always there to lend a helping hand, inquire about our business and ask about my family. They are truly great neighbors and their gallery is home to what is best in art, openness and beauty.
